Thanks for dropping by!

So What Is This?

I started this website as a blog, but I've come to realize that such a title isn't entirely accurate.  This site is more a catalogue of myself.  Yes, writing is a large part of my life, but, honestly, I don't have much free time and I have too many commitments to be able to sit down and consistently 'blog.'  Neither would I want to.  I want to live my life, not sit in a room waxing philosophical about it.  Does this mean I'm going back on my commitment to try to lead a more thoughtful life?  No!  But so much of my thought process and rumination happens while I'm out in the world.  Essentially all of my writing comes from conversations I've had with others or in my own head.  So this site probably won't be updated as frequently as a full on  blog.  It will also probably have more varied content, like some of the businesses I'm working on, and serve as a sort of evolving portfolio of my work and scrapbook of my life.  So I hope you'll still take a look around every so often and check in.  Or, if you like some of my 'work,' be it writing, sketches, photography, etc. and think you might have some work for me, feel free to let me know.

And Why Is This?

I created this site as an outlet for my thoughts.  Over time, I've come to see that too many people have plenty of opinions, but have rarely sat down to think deeply about many of them.  So, my deeper intent with the writing on this site is to encourage people to think more often and more intensely about the issues they care about.  This doesn't mean I won't have some fun and random posts (I most certainly will), but it does mean that I am going to try to encourage a sort of everyday thoughtfulness.  I don't expect or want everyone to become a philosopher, at least not in the traditional sense.  Instead, I want people to bring thoughtfulness into their daily routine as another tool, rather than another end.  I hope that, as people read my work (which, granted, is not terribly unique or profound), they would be encouraged to be more aware of their thoughts and opinions and that they would temper them with a dash of reason when they can.
